el domingo pasado autocontrol hizo su show reunion de 2008, el que estuvo bastante bien (yo, sin ser muy fan de la banda, disfrute bastante de ver en vivo y de la mano de sus autores, canciones como "identificandome" o "piedad") y algunas bandas mas, entre las q destaco en nuestras venas, una banda con miembros actuales de nueva etica y con jeronimo (ex entrefuego) en voz. env suena como una buena banda hc 90s (algo de machaque metal a lo trial/strife y dinamicas de guitarras que me hicieron acordar a burn y hasta a quicksand.

y todo esto viene tambien a colacion porque encontre el blog de jeronimo, un blog q mezcla sus vivencias personales con su vision del hc punk. y tratandose de quien canto en la, para mi, banda mas importante del hc sudamericano, es mas que recomendable.

El Pogo Ambigûo

Para mí Bright Eyes fue siempre el pibe de Fevers and Mirrors (que es claramente su mejor disco) y después, también, "la promesa" de Lifted... y el de ep's raros como el split con Her Space Holiday. El Bright Eyes más conocido, el que va a ir a ver mañana la mayor parte de la gente, los caretas, es con mucha suerte, el Bright Eyes de Lifted..., casi seguro que es el de I'm wide awake it's morning y Cassadaga, sus dos últimos discos que son completamente otra cosa. Por no decir "el de First day of my life", o "el que escucha Seth Cohen". Esos discos, aunque no sean malos, a mí no me interesan porque es un folk bastante convencional y poco interesante y es un terreno que maneja mucho mejor Will Oldham. El Bright Eyes old school en cambio, es ese pendejo medio darkie sufrido, que no le importa mostrar rabia, que tocaba en bandas punk-emo y que hizo algo muy propio que no podría encasillar en ningún genero más que un chico expresándose con su guitarra y de la forma pudiera con otros sonidos.
El Pogo dignifica y sale en su defensa contra los nabos que lo critican y ni siquiera escucharon el Fevers and Mirrors.

Fucked up define los 10 tipos de punks

In the western world there are many types of punks and corresponding fashions as you go up the scale:
(in order of importance)
1) Gutter Punks: Can't afford to make mohakws so they have natty dreads and live on moving trains and also in "gutters".

2) Whacktivists: Are "punks" but don't listen to music - are more interested in making politics. Have punk style but listen to Indigo Girls and Ratatat.

3) Skinheads: The racist kind - are fat and wear Lonsdale clothes from outlet malls and have short girlfriends. Listen to obscure UK and Canadian racist OI music on CDRs

3) Posers: Listen to punk music like the Sex Pistols but also Rage Against the Machine. Are mostly in highschool. They wear punk/goth clothing like leather jackets (new only) but also black bell bottom jeans and wierd shaped sunglasses

4) Old Punks: Wear 20 year old tshirts because they spent all their money on records and have no jobs so they can't afford to look sharp. Have strange jobs and did zines a long time ago. Have grey hair and/or are balding and make everyone else feel depressed at shows and worried that they are looking at their own future.

5) Hardcore Punks: Wear only band tshirts and cut off shorts. Very short cropped hair. Super clean and carry deodorant in a bag with them.

6) Hipster Hardcore Punks: Like above, but also wear "limited" baseball caps, xxxlarge tshirts and "limited" shows. Only listen to Lil' Wayne and some modern Hardcore bands.

7) Indie Punks: Wear grunge clothes, but a little tighter. Move very slowly and smoke lots of weed and are super "Creative". Also ride bikes everywhere.

8) Punks: Who knows what they look like, or who they are.

9) Hipster punks: Like mostly dance music like Uffie and Daft Punk, but also some punk bands that are amazing (Fucked Up) and are able to transcend boundaries. Wear mostly clothes from American Apparel, and also only work at American Apparel, or Vice Magazine (interning only)

10) Fucked Up: Wear only free Fred Perry, Evisu, Burberry, Ben Sherman, and G9 Harrington Jackets, and other selected vintage styles.

Colin: You have to be careful when you talk about England in 1977. In 1976 it was still possible to start a punk band, because there was only the Sex Pistols and their direct influences like the Damned. By ‘77, it was all over. We had to be different. We weren’t fantastic musicians but we had ideas. We discovered the stop/start thing—nobody was doing that before us. And when it was in tune, it was fantastic. With punk, everyone else just focused on being messy.

What do you think of the spree of punk and post-punk reunions lately, like Gang of Four?

Colin: That was in 2005, wasn’t it? To me it’s the year where the line between the old and the new completely disappeared. The new bands sounded like the old ones but crappier.

I feel like you guys got named-dropped a lot that year. What do you think of all the bands who cite you as influences?

Colin: You mean like Bloc Party and Franz Ferdinand? They’re already old. What’s good about these bands is that they all hate Elastica. It seems they want to be connected with Wire, I don’t know why. Do you know Hot Chip? What is that shit? It’s terrible! They’re from the Elliott School. My son goes there, and a lot of bands come from that school: Burial, the Maccabees... The press loves them, but I don’t get it.

Speaking of Elastica, what exactly happened with them ripping off “Three Girl Rhumba”?

Around 1995, I was really into drum and bass. Couldn’t give a fuck about Britpop. One day, a friend rang me up and told me: “You will never believe what I saw on Top of the Pops,” talking about Justine Frischmann. Then NME called me and asked me how I felt about it all. En cuanto a lo que hace a visitas de bandas independientes como shellac o de independencia relativa como Bad Brains (En el 2008) y que luego se sume la chetada de bane a la que no asisti por q en lo personal no me gustan pero no dudo de q debio aver sido shows super energicos se viene aun mas (No , No , NO cuento el Macri Fest en recoleta como algo positivo en nada)
